REVIEW OF HYDRIVE CITRUS BURST

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 145 MILLIGRAMS PER 15.5 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 7 OUT OF 10.

This is my 3rd review of Hydrive and I have to say the first two did fairly well. Judging by the color of liquid inside, and by the fact that the flavor is supposed to be citrus burst, tells me that is is probably orange flavored. As it turns out, I was right, it is an artificial orange flavor, but its nothing like orange juice. So, all things considered, it did taste pretty good, but what's in Hydrive Citrus Burst? Well, for each 15.5 ounce bottle you get 100% of Vitamin D, B3, B5, B6, B9, and B12 along with 145 milligrams of caffeine, 50 milligrams of taurine, 25 milligrams of L-carnitine, and 25 milligrams of L-arginine. So, it has a 245 milligram energy blend which is not that good at all. As far as kick goes, Hydrive still has quite a ways to go. I got a very mild kick from drinking Hydrive Citrus Burst. I still think they should make a Hydirve Xtreme and make it with 50% more of every energy ingredient they have. So, it would have 218 milligrams of caffeine, and 75 milligrams of taurine along with 50% more of L-carnitine and L-arginine. The problem with all the Hydrive drinks is the energy blend. Most energy drinks have around a 2,500 to 3,000 milligram energy blend. The Hydrive with the highest energy blend has only a 265 milligram energy blend. Hydrive needs to step up there game, but it sure does taste good which is why it gets a 7 out of 10.

REVIEW OF 5 HOUR ENERGY BERRY

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 200 MILLIGRAMS PER 2 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 9.7 OUT OF 10!!!

So, after waiting only a couple days for my free 12 pack of 5 Hour Energy, I will finally be able to review the world's most popular energy shot. Ok, so I poured the little 2 ounce shot into a glass and what came out looked somewhat like water with a pink hue. I proceeded to slam the 2 ounces and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It tasted like berry flavored cough syrup, only less thick and without that horrible aftertaste. As a matter of fact, after I slammed the 2 ounces, I went to the sink to wash out my mouth, but I realized that there was no aftertastes so I didn't need to. So, before I get to the kick, what exactly is in this 5 Hour Energy. Well, it has 2,000% of Vitamin B6, 8,333% of Vitamin B12 and a 1,870 milligram energy blend consisting of Tuarine, Glucuronolactone, Malic Acid, N-Acetyl, L-Tyrosine, L-Phenylalanine, Caffeine, and Citicoline. Quite an extensive list if you ask me. The caffeine content is 200 milligrams. Finally, we can go onto the kick. I slammed 5 Hour Energy before a workout and this stuff is where its at! I wasn't that tired after my workout and I was energized for 5 hours, maybe more! There claim of 5 hours of energy is definitely true. I have had a total of 4 energy shots and I have to say this is the best one, by a long shot. I didn't feel jittery and thankfully I didn't get a Niacin Flush, which is what some people get from drinking 5 Hour Energy. If this was an energy drink, I would give it a 9. but since its an energy shot, and its not supposed to taste good, I give it a 9.7. Oh yes, which means the extra strength version might go up to 10! This was a very long review but 5 Hour Energy receives a well deserved 9.7.

REVIEW OF VERVE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 80 MILLIGRAMS PER 8.3 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7 OUT OF 10.

Verve Energy Drink is made a a company called Vemma and it is supposed to be one of the most healthiest energy drinks on the market. Verve has 80 milligrams of caffeine that comes from gaurana so it is 2-3 times more powerful than the caffeine you get from coffee. As far as taste goes, you might want to try some Verve yourself. I couldn't compare Verve to any fruit, energy drink, or anything else for that matter. Verve is in a class by itself when it comes to taste. Even though I don't exactly know what Verve tastes like, I will tell you that I enjoyed the taste. So, there are so many things in Verve that I could write an entire novel just by listing what is in this. However, I will tell you some of the key ingredients in Verve. Some of the key energy ingredients include 1,000 milligrams of taurine, 200 milligrams of gaurana, 80 milligrams of caffeine that is derived from that 200 milligrams of gaurana, and a butt-load of vitamins and minerals. So, did Verve provide me with a kick to get me going? Well, not really. Verve has a very mild kick that didn't motivate me to do a whole lot. When I drink an energy drink, I expect to be pumped up and ready to take on anything. Verve fails to do that which is unfortunate because I had high hopes for Verve. Oh well, better luck next time. Verve gets a 7 out of 10 because the taste is unique.

REVIEW OF BRAIN TONIQ

CAFFEINE CONTENT: NO CAFFEINE.

RATING: 8.7 OUT OF 10.

This is another one of those functional beverages that compete with Jones GABA. Brain Toniq is supposed to be a think drink and it has some crazy, yet cool ingredients. It has no caffeine and the only "energy" ingredients are 20 grams of carbohydrates and 20 grams of sugar. Anyway, Brain Toniq tastes somewhat like a lightly carbonated sweetened ice tea. This actually tastes really good and I wish it wasn't only 8.4 ounces. This is definitely one of the best functional drinks I have tasted. So, like I said before, there are some crazy ingredients in here that I really don't feel like typing. As far as the functionality goes, I did find that my brain was much more clear. It was like little workers entered my brain and power washed every random thought in sight. This is really a well-developed and fantastic functional beverage. If you want a drink that is healthy, gives you brain clarity, and tastes great? Go get some Brain Toniq and fuel your brain today. Brain Toniq gets a 8.7 out of 10.

REVIEW OF STEAZ ENERGY SHOT

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 150 MILLIGRAMS PER 2.5 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 7 OUT OF 10.

Well, my my 42nd review I thought it would be good to try Steaz Energy Shots. Steaz is 100% organic and they have just recently came out with an energy shot. Based on the color of the liquid and the fact that it says green tea, I was expecting a concentrated tea flavor. That is exactly what I got and you have got to slam this drink. It is certainly not the greatest thing I have tasted, but then again it's an energy shot so I wouldn't expect it to. What exactly is in Steaz energy shot? Well besides having 150 milligrams of natural caffeine, you also have 1,250% of Vitamin c, 2,000% of Vitamin b6, 100% of folic acid, 8,333% of Vitamin B12, and a 1,600 milligram blend of organic green tea, acai, yerba mate, and guarana. So, I was expecting a great kick and is that what I got? Well, sort of. The kick was a nice pick me up but it really didn't motivate me to do anything. All it did was wake me up. Man I am so ready for my 50th review on this blog. I haven't told you this before, but for my 50th review, I will be reviewing Wired X-344. Wired X-344 is the second most powerful 16 ounce energy drink ever made. But we are not here to talk about Wired X-344, are we? No, we are here to talk about Steaz Energy Shot and I am here to give it a 7 out of 10. The good thing is that Steaz Energy Shot doesn't market themselves as an extreme energy shot. This is more of a shot to get you focused and ready for whatever. However, it still gets a 7 out of 10 because of the bad taste.

REVIEW OF HYDRIVE TRIPLE BERRY

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 145 MILLIGRAMS PER 15.5 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10.

This is my review of Hydrive Triple Berry. Like I said in my first review of Hydrive, I got free samples of these as well as the energy chews. Hydrive is a fairly healthy drink as it has only 6 grams of sugar and 30 calories per bottle. The triple berry flavor also boasts antioxidants such as apple polyphenols. So, like I said before, the flavor was triple berry and that is exactly what it tasted like. I detected a cherry base with some cranberry in there as well. Pretty good if you ask me, and it was pretty light and very refreshing. So, we have established that Hydrive Triple Berry tasted pretty good and was very refreshing but who is the kick? Well, besides the normal 254 milligram energy blend that all the Hydrives have, This also has vitamin E, polyphenols, ginkgo biloba, acai, zinc, and selenium. Overall I got a mild kick that lasted about 3 to 5 hours. Not bad, but not that good if you ask me. This drink has 145 milligrams of caffeine and the energy blend is too small to get me going really well. I suggest the make a Hydrive Extreme or something like that and make it with 50% more caffeine so that it would have 218 milligrams of caffeine. Or make a 24 ounce bottle and call it Hydrive Super Max and make it with over 350 milligrams of caffeine. Hydrive is a good hydrator, and it sure tastes great but as far as energy goes, they aren't quite there yet. Hydrive Triple Berry receives a 7.5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF HYDRIVE BLUE RASPBERRY

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 145 MILLIGRAMS PER 15.5 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 7 OUT OF 10.

Well, here it is folks: my 40th review! I got free samples of Hydrive Energy and today I will be reviewing the Blue Raspberry flavor. All of the Hydrive Energy Drinks have different formulas that do different things. There is the strength, vitamin, electrolyte, antioxidant, and alertness formula. Today I will be reviewing the strength formula. As far as taste goes, I was expecting a light fruity flavor similar to a propel but less water tasting. I sort of got that and it was pretty light. This would be great before a bike ride or a long run. It is non carbonated and you can easily chug it. If you hate the sticky, syrupy, gummyness you get from energy drinks, then Hydrive is the drink for you. Like I said before, this is the strength formula, but what exactly is in it? Well, you get 145 milligrams of caffeine, 50 milligrams of taurine, 25 milligrams of L carnitine, 25 milligrams of L arginine, 5 milligrams of L leucine, 5 milligrams of D ribose, 5 milligrams of Maca Root Extract, and 5 milligrams of Gingko Biloba. Overall this drink has a 265 milligram energy blend which is substantially less than the average energy drink which can very anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 milligrams. Because of this, I had low expectations for Hydrive. I drank this fairly quick and I got a nice boost that lasted about an hour. After the hour was up, the energy level was very mild. If I had to rate the energy level itself, I would give it a 5 or 6. Overall the energy level is better than a Red Bull (Then again water gives you a bigger boost then Red Bull) and it lasts about 2 hours. It also has a great taste and I like that you can chug it. I will give this drink a 7 out of 10.

REVIEW OF HYDRIVE ENERGY CHEWS ORANGE BLAST

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER PACK.

RATING: 8 OUT OF 10!

Today, I received free samples of an energy drink called Hydrive. They have 5 flavors, maybe 6, and they have these little energy chews which is what I am reviewing today. Hydrive energy chews come in a cool little package and there are 4 to a pack. Each chew contains 40 milligrams of caffeine and 66 milligrams of taurine along with a gigantic plethora of vitamins. I saw a commercial for this once on the Hydrive website and it showed a women running and carrying a pack of those energy chews. Like all commercials, she had no problem getting that bag open so she could pop one of her chews in. To my amazement, the same thing happened to me. I hesitated for a moment and then proceed to rip the bag open. I was expected to be greeted with an impossible-to-open super glued bag, but instead the thing ripped open quite easily. At last. we come to the taste, and what a strong taste it is. I got a super orange flavor that was so strong. The first two were ok, but the second two were just weird and too strong. I also consumed them the wrong way. You are supposed to immediately take two and then take the third and hour later and the fourth one an hour after that. That is one strange way to consume something, because I took it all at once. The energy level came fast and hard and lasted about 30 minutes to an hour. And for the next 4-6 hours I had a moderate boost of energy. It was what I expected from something with 160 milligrams of caffeine and 264 milligrams of taurine. It is not bad, it's actually pretty good. But certaintly not the greatest. All in all, I will give it a solid 8. Nice job Hydrive!

REVIEW OF RIP IT CITRUS X

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 200 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN

RATING: 7.8 OUT OF 10.

This is my 3rd review of Rip It and the first two did pretty well. All of the Rip It beverages sell for just $1.09 so that is 50% less than the average energy drink price. On the front of the yellow 16 ounce can, it states that the flavor is supposed to be Citrus. I was expecting something like Vault, Mountain Dew, or even Full Throttle. Instead I got a mix between carbonated Sunny Delight and orange soda. Not exactly what I had in mind but nevertheless it tasted really good. I think it is better than AMP Relaunch by a little bit, but not by much. Rip It has a good load of B Vitamins as well as a 2,420 milligram energy blend consisting of 2,000 milligrams of taurine, 200 milligrams of caffeine, 200 milligrams of inositol, and 20 milligrams of gaurana seed extract. Not too bad but it could use some L carnitine and some ginseng. The kick I got was not what I expected from a drink with 200 milligrams of caffeine. It is a bit of an endurance increase but other than that it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. The energy level was a moderate boost that lasted approximately 3 hours, maybe more. And, you get a pretty good crash from 66 grams of sugar. So, Rip It Citrus X gave me a decent kick and tasted fabulous. It gets a 7.8 out of 10. The kick was not bad, but not that good.

REVIEW OF AMP LIGHTNING

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 9 OUT OF 10!

This is the 5th flavor of AMP that I have tried and I have to say they all tasted pretty good. AMP Lightning is 1 of 3 new flavors from AMP Energy. The other two are AMP Rebuild and AMP Defend which feature AMP Energy mixed with black or green tea. If you look on the front of the bright yellow can, you will notice it states that the flavor is lemonade. AMP certainly didn't lie as I got a nice, lightly carbonated, refreshing artificial lemonade flavor. This was actually quite good and it had no sour or bitterness and the lemonade flavor wasn't too strong. Well, AMP Lightning has a nice little plethora of energy ingredients like 296 milligrams of taurine, 200 milligrams of L-carnitine, 160 milligrams of caffeine, 248 milligrams of gaurana seed extract, and 34 milligrams of panax ginseng extract. Not a bad blend but certainly better than the original AMP. No B vitamins to share with this one, unfortunately. So, for 160 milligrams of caffeine the kick was pretty good. It lasted around 4 to 5 hours and I had plenty of energy to go and have a couple Cokes. The energy level itself in somewhat medium. You are not going to be running marathons and lifting 500 pound weights by drinking AMP Lightning. Nonetheless, it still gets a 9. *The photograph above was taken by a reviewer for the Canned Reviews blog. I take absolutely no credit for it whatsoever. REVIEW OF AMP

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 142 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8 OUT OF 10.

I wasn't feeling well today so I will be super lenient with AMP. First of all, AMP is pretty much jacked up Mountain Dew. It has energy ingredients but the amounts are so significantly low that is doesn't matter. Every energy drink reviewer says AMP tastes like Mountain Dew and I can't argue with that. Mountain Dew is exactly what is tasted like and it had no sour aftertaste. In my opinion, AMP makes some of the best tasting energy drinks and the original flavor didn't let me down. Now, there are some key energy ingredients like 150 milligrams of guarana, 142 milligrams of caffeine, and 20 milligrams of taurine. 20 milligrams of taurine is 1,880 milligrams less than the average energy drink. I mentioned at the top of this review that I didn't feel too good so I will be lenient on the kick. Even though AMP is basically a jacked up Mountain Dew, this drink has some potential. I could tell that it worked, and if I was 100% then it would last longer. I guarantee that this drink would give me a nice kick, I just know it. If you like Mountain Dew but you want more energy then I suggest you get AMP. The rating is an 8 out of 10. It has great taste and even though I didn't feel the kick, it was because I wasn't 100%. This drink would work, just trust me.

REVIEW OF NO FEAR MOTHERLOAD

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 182 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN

RATING: 8.5 OUT OF 10

So, this is my second review in the line-up of No Fear Super Energy Supplements. This one is called Motherload because it has 300% of Vitamins C, B6, and B12. If you look on energy.nofear.com, the drinks website, you will notice that the flavor is supposed to be guanabara-berry. I haven't got a clue what that is and when I looked up the flavor online, I found nothing. When I did crack the can at around 10:00 a.m. I first noticed a Red Bull clone with some fruitiness. Then after drinking a few more sips I noticed it had some orange flavor in there as well, but the base was still Red Bull clone. So, to sum up the taste, we are talking about a citrus-like Red Bull. If Red Bull came out with a citrus flavored drink and added like 30-50% juice, it would come close to what this tasted like. So what are some of the key ingredients in No Fear Motherload? Well, the good stuff includes 2,000 milligrams of taurine, 182 milligrams of caffeine, 100 milligrams of Panax Ginseng Extract, 100 milligrams of guarana extract, and 50 milligrams of L-Cartinine. Quite a nice blend if you ask me, and it certainly does the trick. Within minutes I was feeling the kick and eventually got the urge to run around and play basketball. Also, my alertness and focus level increased when playing video games which is vital when you want to get the best possible lap time. Not a bad drink overall, really. It had good taste and the kick was nice. I give this a good 8.5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF AMP OVERDRIVE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN

RATING: 9 OUT OF 10- GREAT TASTE!

This has got to be one of the best tasting energy drinks on the market, just make sure you drink it nice and cold. AMP Overdrive is supposed to taste like Mountain Dew Code Red. Well, I'll be the judge of that. When I drank the first half of AMP Overdrive I got a big sour aftertaste. The drink was not cold so I put the rest over ice. The ice sure made a difference as 95% of the sourness disappeared. Then it became a delicious cherry flavored beverage that I would enjoy any day, just make sure it's cold. And if you are wondering, I have not had Mountain Dew Code Red enough to say that AMP Overdrive tastes similar. So, does Overdrive get me energized? Well, AMP Overdrive has 160 milligrams of caffeine, along with 296 milligrams of taurine, 248 milligrams of gaurana, 34 milligrams of Panax Ginseng Extract, and a bunch of other stuff. Not bad at all for an energy drink, and it certainly does do the trick. I am not hyper and I don't feel like doing an extreme sport, nor do I care. AMP Overdrive is certainly something I would drink again and again. And it wouldn't have to be for energy, I would drink it simply because it tastes so good and it is so refreshing. What's the rating? A nice and healthy 9 out of 10. This is my new best tasting energy drink.

REVIEW OF ROCKSTAR

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 5 OUT OF 10

Yesterday I had a Rockstar Energy Drink and I didn't have time to review it so here I am sitting here at 12:14 p.m., ready to give you my review. First of all, Rockstar doesn't say what flavor it is, so I am guessing Red Bull clone. As it turns out, I was right, it tasted like Red Bull only a little bit more sour. Overall I'd say the taste is decent. I mean, Red Bull doesn't really taste that good and when you put that same flavor in a 16 ounce can and add a bit of sourness to it, it doesn't really do it a whole lot of good. So, we have established that the taste is just ok, but how about that kick? Well, it was hard to tell if it gave me energy so that wasn't good. I also just found out that Rockstar has 60 grams of sugar in it which probably caused my headache. So, basically, to sum it all up, it tasted decent, didn't give me energy, and gave me a headache. Rating? A sad and disappointing 5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF FUZE POMEGRANATE ACAI

CAFFEINE CONTENT: NO CAFFEINE.

RATING: 9 OUT OF 10!

Although, Fuze contains no caffeine, it contain some other cool ingredients like Polyphenols, and a whopping 462 milligrams of Super Citrimax. Fuze also contains 46 milligrams of L-Carnitine, an amino acid commonly found in energy drinks. Fuze definitely tasted good and sweet and I downed the entire 18.5 ounce bottle in no time. It only has 2 grams of sugar per serving so it is sweetened with acesulfame potassium and sucralose. I have heard a lot about these Fuze drinks and how they taste so good and they did not lie. The taste was very sweet but just a tiny bit bitter. Does it really matter that Fuze doesn't contain caffeine? Of course it doesn't! I was still focused, alert and pretty much felt more alive. I think someone who hates the taste of energy drinks and also hates caffeine would love Fuze. This is truly a well crafted beverage which is why it gets a 9 out of 10. Well done Fuze, well done.

REVIEW OF XS CHERRY BLAST

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 83 MILLIGRAMS PER 8.4 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8.7 OUT OF 10.

Today I will be reviewing Cherry Blast from XS Energy Drink. This is my third review of XS so far and most of them have done well. Actually, I have given an average of 8.6 out of 10 for the past 5 reviews. Can XS Cherry Blast keep it up? Read on to find out. The flavor is fairly easy to describe. It's like if Red Bull made a cherry flavored drink then it would taste like this. It had the same tartness as Red Bull does. I'm not good with detecting fruit flavors so I just say it tasted fruity. So, the taste was pretty, well, tasty but how's that kick? XS Cherry Blast contains 83 milligrams of caffeine (the same as Red Bull) and it certainly did the trick for me. I wasn't hyper and jacked up but I felt like I was very alert and focused. I think it's ok that I forgot that I even had this drink. It is supposed to feel like that. It has been 3 hours since I drank it and I am still going strong. There is no crash because of the lack of sugar and carbs. So, if you love the taste of tart cherries, and want to have an energy drink and still be healthy? XS Cherry Blast is the drink for you! Rating? 8.7 out of 10. Sorry if the photo is small, it was the biggest one I could find.

REVIEW OF XS BLACK CHERRY COLA BLAST

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 83 MILLIGRAMS PER 8.4 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 9 OUT OF 10!

My next review will be of the XS Black Cherry Cola Blast. XS Black Cherry Cola Blast comes in a convenient, black 8.4 ounce can. Obviously I knew what to expect with the taste of this and the name of this does not lie. It is definitely a diet cola taste with the slightest hint of black cherry. There is none of that sour or bitter aftertaste that is normally associated with energy drinks. It is simply a refreshing cola that goes great with any snack or meal. So, we have established that this is one refreshing and tasty beverage but how's that kick? Well, for having 83 milligrams of caffeine, it was great! I still focused and alert even 4 hours after I drank it. You also get energy from a ton of B-Vitamins, including an outstanding 4,900% of vitamin B-12. So, if you love the taste of diet cola, or just cola in general, and want an energy drink with a great kick and no crash? Then XS Black Cherry Cola Blast is the drink for you! Rating? 9 out of 10!!!

REVIEW OF XYIENCE XENERGY CHERRY LIME

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 200 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8 OUT OF 10

This is the Official Energy Drink of the Ultimate Fighting Championship so I hope it does well. Xyience Xenergy Cherry Lime is one of those energy drinks that says the flavor right on the can so I kind of new what to expect. It tasted pretty much like Diet Cherry 7Up only a bit more diety, too diety for me. So, we have established that the taste was kinda good, although it would be better if it didn't taste so diety. The kick is actually something I wouldn't expect from an energy drink with 200 milligrams of caffeine. I mean, it was good lasting 3 hours but I would think something with that much caffeine would have done more. Oh well, at least I had energy do a bit of yard work. So, to conclude this very short review, I will give Xyience Xenergy an 8 out of 10 because of the diety taste and any kick lasting 3 or more hours is going to get a pretty good rating, regardless of its caffeine amount.

REVIEW OF DIET PEPSI MAX

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 115 MILLIGRAMS PER 20 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 9.5 OUT OF 10!!!

I have had my eye on this drink for a long time, and today I finally got a chance to try it. Diet Pepsi Max is indeed a hybrid. A hybrid is basically a cross between a soda and an energy drink. Some examples are Vault, MTN Dew Game Fuel and Squirt Citrus Power. Some would argue that a regular MTN Dew is a hybrid and I couldn't say it isn't. But, enough background, on to the review! Another reason why I got this drink was because I needed a break from the sourness that is associated with energy drinks. Well, the taste was something I never expected. It tasted like Diet Pepsi! Wow, this was a big shock, I thought it was going to taste like applesauce. Before I go on, I would like to point out that the last few sentences were completely sarcastic, just in case you didn't know. So, we have established that it tastes like Diet Pepsi but with 115 milligrams of caffeine, how is that kick? Well, for just 5.75 milligrams of caffeine per ounce, I was more than impressed. And, as a bonus it was only like $1.50 and as another bonus, there is no crash because there is no sugar. I had low expectations for this drink and what I got was stellar for a drink like this. Well done Pepsi, well done. Its rating? A good hardy 9........and a half. Why? value and surprise, that's why. Before I go I just wanna say one thing. Is this a hybrid? Hybrid? Not in your dreams kid, This.....is an energy drink! Caffeine Guru out!

REVIEW OF ROCKSTAR JUICED MANGO ORANGE PASSION FRUIT

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10.

Time to kick it up a notch! Wait, maybe not. I haven't told you this before but Rockstar Energy Drink claims themselves as the "World's Most Powerful Energy Drink". Yea, right. Rockstar has 160 milligrams of caffeine. There are several energy drinks more powerful than Rockstar. There is Spike, Cocaine Energy (not real cocaine), and Wired X-344 and 505, to name but a few. So, with that in mind, Rockstar Juiced Mango Orange Passion Fruit tasted eerily similar to NOS. It had that same artificial orange taste with a sour aftertaste. I hardly tasted any of the other juices but I guess that is fine. All of the Rockstar Juiced have 50% Juice. I guess they are competing with Monster's Energy Juice line-up. So, we have established that although the taste is similar to NOS, it still tastes pretty dang good. So, did the "World's Most Powerful Energy Drink" give me energy? It's a little hard to say. I was energized after I drank it but then it worn off after 60 to 90 minutes. That is not that good at all as normal energy drinks typically last 3 to 5 hours. I think all the physical exercise might have killed it. All in all, 1 hour and 30 minutes of energy is definitely below average. So, in conclusion, Rockstar Juiced Mango Orange Passion Fruit tasted quite good but had a below average kick. The drink gets a 7.5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF ROCKSTAR ROASTED MOCHA

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 225 MILLIGRAMS PER 15 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 9 OUT OF 10!!!!

I wanted to get a Mountain Dew Game Fuel today, but it wasn't available where I was, so I got a Rockstar Roasted Mocha instead. I have always been a fan of these coffee flavored drinks as I am a fan of regular coffee (I had 2 cups yesterday). The flavor is said to be mocha but it is the same as all the other coffee flavored energy drinks I've tried only this has a slight, yet pleasant bitter aftertaste. And, by coffee, they mean cream. All the coffee flavored energy drinks I have had are very creamy in a wonderfully pleasant way. It's not like downing a 15 ounce bottle of pure cream, it's much better. This has got to be the fastest energy drink I have ever drank. It was gone within 3-5 minutes but there is a simple equation to figure out why: Caffeine Guru+non-carbonated beverage. I'll let you do the math on that one, in the mean time, let's talk about the kick. Well, with 225 milligrams of caffeine, it wasn't special. I would say that it isn't necessarily stronger than the average energy drink but it certainly lasts longer (5-6 hours). Overall, I would say this thing tastes like heaven (no wonder, it's coffee flavored) and the kick lasted pretty long so I'll give it a 9 out of 10. Any beverage is going to get a high rating if I can still feel the effects after 5 or 6 hours.

REVIEW OF FULL THROTTLE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 141 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 9 OUT OF 10!

God, I just really love the name of this drink: Full Throttle! Anyway, this thing has 141 milligrams of caffeine per 16 ounce can which is 19 less than the average energy drink (160 milligrams). At the first sip, I immediately detected a Mountain Dew flavor with a bitter aftertaste. This drink actually tastes pretty dang good. If hardcore and bad(you know what) had a taste it would taste something like Full Throttle. All they need to do is get rid of the bitterness and I could really pound this thing down. It is lightly carbonated so it is also easy to chug. So, we've established that the taste is pretty freaking good but what about the kick? Well, my expectations were set pretty low because it only has 141 milligrams of caffeine. What I got was something I didn't expect. I think it may have something to do with the 3,000 milligram energy blend Full Throttle packs. My energy level certiantly increased and I am pretty focused and, well, energized. Overall, hardcore taste and a nice kick give this drink a 9 out of 10. I just was not expecting such a good energy level. so, without further ado: GRAB YOURSELF A CAN AND GO FULL THROTTLE!!!

REVIEW OF MONSTER ASSAULT

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN

RATING: 6.5 OUT OF 10

This is my review of the Monster Assault. So, I cracked the can at around 2:00 p.m. and noticed it was basically a carbonated sour fruit punch flavor. There really is nothing else to say, that is exactly what it tasted like. It was very carbonated making it difficult for me to finish all 16 ounces. I actually had pretty bad stomach cramps after drinking it but after a few minutes, I was fine. The kick is decent but certainly not the greatest. Anytime you have to think whether the drink gave you energy, you know it is not a good drink. So, to sum it all up, I would pass up the offer to drink another one of these. The taste was just ok and the carbonation was a little too much. And, the kick wasn't up to par so I will give this a 6.5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF JONES GABA FUJI APPLE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: UNDISCLOSED

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10

This is my next review of that Jones Gaba stuff. Again, this has no B vitamins, no taurine, no yerba mate, no guarana and none of that ginko stuff. It has caffeine but the official amount is unknown. Based on the fact that it contains white tea and based on the fact that white tea is listed as one of the last ingredients, it probably only has roughly 10 milligrams, or around half a can of cola. This drink contains something that no other functional beverage contains: Gaba. Gaba (gamma aminobutyric acid) is an amino acid that promotes focus and clarity of the brain. So, with that in mind, onto the review! The flavor I had was Fuji apple. It tasted exactly like ice tea with a hint of apple juice. It actually was a bit bitter which made it difficult to finish all 12 ounces. So, since this is a functional beverage and not an energy drink, I will review the "kick" in that respect. This drink does help your brain focus, don't get me wrong. I had this in the morning and that is the worst time to have energy drinks and functional beverages. So, given the fact that I know this stuff works for me and the fact that it was a bit difficult to finish, I will give it a 7.5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF JONES GABA NECTARINE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: UNDISCLOSED

RATING: 8.5 OUT OF 10

Let me start by saying this contains no B vitamins, no guarana, no ginseng and no taurine. The caffeine content is undisclosed but based on the fact that it contains white tea, it probably contains around 10-15 milligrams or about half a can of cola. The flavor I had was nectarine which pretty much tasted like sweetened ice tea because it is actually 88 percent tea and only 12 percent juice. There was a hint of nectarine, but only a hint. This drink is supposed to promote focus and clarity of the brain so I will review the "kick" in that respect. This drink contains 150 milligrams of GABA or gamma aminobutyric acid which pretty much helps you focus. The drink certainly did the trick by adding some focus to my brain. Maybe, this will be a new ingredient found in energy drinks in the near future. So, based on the fact that it tasted pretty darn good and that the focus benefit was pretty cool, I'll give it a 8.5 out of 10. This should be a great beverage to take in the morning before you go to work.

REVIEW OF JAVA MONSTER ORIGINALE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN

RATING: 8.5 OUT OF 10

It's official! I am the only energy drink review blog to review the Java Monster Originale. I think it is quite interesting how no one has ever reviewed this drink. I am not sure if Taurine Rules ever did but he deleted his blog so it wouldn't count. So, I cracked the can at around 11:30 in the morning and took a sip. The flavor is very similar to Mean Bean only there might be a bit more creaminess. Other than that it is pretty much the same. I'm supposed to give this drink a 10 out of 10 because it has the same energy blend that every Java Monster has but I am not going to give this a perfect 10, so on to the kick! The kick is definitely stronger than a regular cup of coffee and it did motivate me to workout. It has been 3.5 hours since I drank this and I am still pretty focused. Overall, this drink is pretty good so I will give it a 8.5 out of 10. Sorry about the small photo but that was the only one I could find.

**UPDATE, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO REVIEW ORIGINALE**

REVIEW OF ON GO MANDARIN ORANGE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 177 MILLIGRAMS PER 2 OUNCE BOTTLE

RATING: 5 OUT OF 10

I definitely did not have the Lemon Lime version of this at the wrong time, that is for sure. The taste is really hard to describe because I slammed it. I got this bitter aftertaste and I had to get a drink of water to make the taste go away. The kick is pretty easy to describe, actually. You get this weird tingling sensation in your skin and you are energized for an hour, maybe less, and then you have less energy then you did before!!! I know now for a fact that these energy shots do not do anything for me at all. I am pretty disappointed because I had such high expectations for these shots. Oh well, I guess it just doesn't work for some people. So, in conclusion, I will give this a 5 out of 10. The taste was just okay (good thing I slammed it) and the kick is simply not where they say it is. For me, this drink truly does deserve a 5 out of 10. What a pitiful beverage! 4-6 hours of energy my butt!

REVIEW OF ON GO LEMON LIME

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 177 MILLIGRAMS PER 2 OUNCE BOTTLE

RATING: 6 OUT OF 10

This is my review of the On Go lemon lime energy shot. The taste was a strong lemon flavor that really overpowered the lime because I didn't taste any. Overall not a bad drink as far as taste, but what about kick? This drink failed to deliver any results and I really think I might have taken it at the wrong time. I tried to think if if this thing gave my energy and it just didn't. It really frustrated me because it is 177 milligrams of caffeine in just 2 ounces and it failed to energize me. Not to good considering energy, not to good at all. So, I will give this a rating of 6 out of 10. And, in my rating system, that is not that good. Hopefully, it was because I took it at the wrong time but I highly doubt it.

REVIEW OF ROCKSTAR ZERO CARB

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 240 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 9.2 OUT OF 10!

Someone told me that Rockstar was really good. I also found out that Rockstar Zero Carb has 50 percent more caffeine than regular Rockstar. Alright, so I cracked the blue 16 ounce can and took a sip. I noticed that Rockstar tells me it is wild berry in flavor. By wild berry, the really mean wild berry, not Red Bull clone. I could definitely taste the artificial sweeteners but it wasn't bad at all. Overall, this drink tasted pretty good but what about that kick. It came fast and hard and is a real eye opener. And, you get no stomach cramps to boot! Even though this has 50 percent more caffeine than Rockstar, it still does not beat the most caffeine I have ever reviewed. That still goes to NOS with an incredible 260 milligrams of caffeine. As a matter of fact, at 6:30 it will be 5 hours since I had this drink and I will still be pumped with energy. Because of the lack of sugar, there is also no crash! I'd say this is a pretty darn good drink so I am going to give it a 9.2 out of 10!

REVIEW OF RIP IT ATOMIC POM

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 200 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8.5 OUT OF 10

This is my second review in the line-up if Rip It energy drinks. The flavor I had was atomic pom (pomegranate). I cracked open the can and took a sip. The flavor wasn't too bad at first but it got a bit hard to finish at the end. It had a strong sour and bitter aftertaste which made it difficult to finish all 16 ounces. I had success with the first Rip It as far as kick and this one is no exception. It took quite awhile to kick in but when it did, DANG! I did my workout and I am stilled slammed with energy. The caffeine content of Rip It Atomic Pom is 200 milligrams of caffeine. Are my hands shaking uncontrollably? You bet they are, I am pretty wired actually. This is not the most caffeine I have ever reviewed. That award goes to NOS energy drink with 260 milligrams of caffeine. So, in conclusion, the Rip It Atomic Pom tasted decent and had a killer kick. I am going to give this an 8.5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF MONSTER

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10

This drink brings back old memories. This was the first energy drink I ever tried, even before I had my blog. My neighbor gave me a sip and it tore through my stomach like nothing. I hated energy drinks until I maned up and decided to make this successful blog. I really like to compare the taste to a Mountain Dew with a sour aftertaste. The only problem is that it is hard on your palette (roof of mouth). But the basic flavor is really Mountain Dew with a bold sour aftertaste. The energy level is pretty good, considering I took it before my workout. The energy is a good moderate level that lasts roughly 4 hours. Not bad, but it isn't really amazing by any means. So, I shall give this Monster a rating. Monster Energy gets a 7.5 out of 10 because of it being hard on the palette and the kick level not being where they claim it to be.

REVIEW OF MONSTER KHAOS

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10

This is my next review in the Monster line of products. This one is called Khaos. Khaos is an energy juice hybrid with 50 percent juice. So, at around 12:00 noon I cracked open the can and took a sip. I immediately noticed an orange taste mixed with a sour aftertaste. It was sort of like NOS, only NOS is better. I poured it into a glass to see what color it was and I realized it was sort of a dark orange color. If this drink was red, I would have a tough time distinguishing it from No Fear. I was smarter this time and had breakfast before I drank it. The kick is a little hard to describe but it isn't a bouncing-off-the-walls type kick that lasts for 6 hours. It is more like a moderate energy that lasts around 4.5 hours. Not to shabby, but there is a noticeable crash. This drink failed in giving me more stamina for my workout, but that is ok. I did have some energy to go to a graduation party for an hour or so. So, to conclude, Monster Khaos gets a 7.5 out of 10 because the taste wasn't really that good and the kick could use a little work.

REVIEW OF MONSTER M-80

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN

RATING: 7 OUT OF 10

It is finally here. My first review of Monster Energy Drink. Obviously it isn't the original flavor but I have had my eye on this drink for quite some time. I was actually debating if I should review this and I finally decided that I should. So, Monster M-80 has 80 percent juice so I was expecting sort of a carbonated juice type flavor. What I got has an impossible to describe fruit flavor in the beginning, and a sour taste at the end. The taste was good but not exactly what I had in mind. I really think I had my Monster M-80 at the wrong time. I did not have any breakfast and I really think that killed it because the kick wasn't that good. It wasn't like my energy level went up and then decreased, it just never went up. I really did not want to review this drink but I sort of had to because it is about time I review a drink from Monster. So, as much as I would like to wait before I review this, I can't so I guess I will give it a rating. Monster M-80 has a good taste but a poor kick so I will give it a 7 out of 10. Basically that is all taste but it did taste pretty good. And it has 80 percent juice which I think is fantastic for an energy drink.

REVIEW OF MONSTER JAVA MEAN BEAN

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 15 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 10 OUT OF 10

This truly is one Mean Bean! I acquired the Java Monster Mean Bean on Thursday and drank it Saturday morning at around 9:40. The first sip I took didn't exactly help me in finding the taste but after drinking it some more I realized it is a very smooth vanilla latte flavor with no medicinal aftertaste at all. This drink is 15 ounces, 1 ounce less than the normal energy drink size. So, at first I was simply pleased with the kick, until it really kicked in. I started playing some basketball and then got the urge to run around my house a few times and do some suicides. As a matter of fact, I was so energized that I ran a 5k (3.1 miles) on my treadmill-my new record! This is a great, no fantastic alternative to the morning coffee or tea. It has 160 milligrams and a bunch if other stuff but I can't get past simply how long it lasted! It has been 5 hours since I drank it and it still feels like someone stuck pins in my eyelids to keep them from closing. And to think that this drink has absolutely no medicinal aftertaste and all really makes me want to just give this drink an award! I forgot to mention before that after the 5k I felt fine, I was just sweating. I could have ran around 4 or maybe even 5 miles before I really got tired. This drink, for now, has the longest most consistent kick I have ever had. I just can't comprehend how long this has lasted! I know I have said this before but dang it I will say it again. this drink is down right amazing! And I forgot to say that this drink sits wonderfully in your stomach. Ok, finally I will conclude this by giving it a rating! Drum roll please.................10 out of 10!!!!! Yes, Java Monster is one of if not the best energy drink out there. Of course I don't know that for sure since I have a lot more to try but it will be very hard to beat this beast of a drink! I know that my fingers aren't shaking but it was the combination of taste and kick consistency that just mad me happy! Wow that was the longest review of my life, but it is finally over. Or is it?

REVIEW OF NOS

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 260 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7.8 OUT OF 10.

This is the most caffeine I have ever tried in an energy drink. NOS Energy Drink has an incredible 260 milligrams of caffeine. So, at first NOS tasted like a Red Bull clone but after tasting it some more, I realized it is more of a carbonated sour orange juice. Now, this does sound pretty disgusting but it actually was pretty good. I drank it pretty fast, hoping I would get a good kick out of it. The kick is a little hard to describe but it is not really a bouncing-off-the-walls type kick you would expect from an energy drink with 260 milligrams of caffeine. There are a few reasons why the kick wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. The first reason is that the overall energy drink blend is less than average energy drinks. The average energy drink has a 3000 milligram energy blend were as NOS has just 1480 milligrams. The second reason is that I have become immune to the effects if caffeine which can be reversed by staying away from anything with caffeine for a week. I will also point out that NOS has a kick that almost goes gets better as you go on. It starts out slow and then gets better and better and better. This did not come without a price as I got a major headache which really was bothering me until I took some Ibuprofen. In a nutshell, I would describe the NOS kick as sort of a slight pick me up that gets better as you go. If you threw in a little physical exercise you would be pretty much good to go. So, to conclude I give the NOS energy drink a 7.8 out of 10 because I am being nice about the headache and I liked the taste. The kick did fall short but it does get better as you go on and as a bonus, there is no crash!

REVIEW OF MOUNTAIN DEW VOLTAGE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 54 MILLIGRAMS PER 12 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10.

I know, I know, Mountain Dew isn't an energy drink so why am I reviewing it? A lot of energy drink review blog spots are reviewing this new item from Mountain Dew because it has ginseng plus the regular 54 milligrams of caffeine you get from regular Dew. Unfortunately, ginseng is the third to last ingredient so there isn't that much of it in the drink. If you haven't figured out by now, my taste buds are very unacute( I know thats not a real word but I don't care) so I had a hard time detecting the taste. There is still that classic Mountain Dew citrus flavor that no one can copy. The drink is pretty sweet and you get this little carbonated buzz on the tip of your tongue that lingers for a bit and then goes away. I could not taste the raspberry flavor the can suggests but still id tasted pretty good. It's hard to decide whether I should compare the kick to a soda or an energy drink so I guess I'll do both. When compared to sodas such as Coke, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper which all contain about 35-45 milligrams of caffeine, Voltage easily has more of a kick. When compared to energy drinks such as Monster, AMP, and Rockstar which all contain 160 milligrams of caffeine, it does fall a bit short. So this drink is indeed an energy soda hybrid just like Diet Pepsi Max, Vault, and the now defunct MDX from Mountain Dew. So, to conclude this drink gets a 7.5 out of 10 because the taste was not too bad but the kick was just OK but I guess it depends what you compare it to.

REVIEW OF AMP ELEVATE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 9 OUT OF 10!

My second review in the AMP line of products is the mixed berry flavored Elevate. It comes in a nice eye-catching blue 16 ounce can that gets you to really notice it. AMP Elevate says Blast of Mixed Berry right on it so I knew what I was going to taste. By mixed berry they mean, let's take a bunch of sweet tarts and dump some sour stuff on them, melt them to a liquid and call it a day. DO NOT GET ME WRONG! THIS DRINK TASTES VERY GOOD IF YOU LIKE SOUR THINGS!!! I put that in all caps because I want people to notice that it is not mixed berry but it is very good. So, AMP Elevate contains the basic 160 milligrams of caffeine per 16 ounce can. It also contains only 296 milligrams of taurine and 24 milligrams of L-Theanine which is something now commonly found in energy drinks. L-Theanine is supposed to give you added focus but there is so little of it in AMP Elevate that you just don't notice it. The actual kick however was astounding, right up there with the best of them. I was constantly repeating the same phrase over and over again. I kept saying things like OH YEAH! Basketball, basketball, basketball. Actually, one time I saw my basketball speeding down the road and I sprinted, you know, fast and I caught that thing in a jiffy! So to conclude, outstanding kick and great taste give this drink a 9 out of 10.

REVIEW OF VITAMIN WATER ENERGY

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 50 MILLIGRAMS PER 20 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 6.0 OUT OF 10

Energy drink or not an energy drink? That seemed to be the main question when I was drinking a Vitamin Water Energy. I guess it's an energy drink because it has b-vitamins, guarana and caffeine and I have seen other people review it. Vitamin Water Energy has tropical citrus written on it so I kind of new what I was getting into. The taste is pretty good and there are definitely some tropical flavors in their such as pineapple, mango, and I think some peach in their as well. I'm not sure if any of those fruits are actually tropical but that's what it tasted like. It only has 50 milligrams of natural caffeine from gaurana so it didn't give of much of a kick but it was noticeable. I would probably recommend Vitamin Water Energy to any sports drink lover that would enjoy a little extra punch. I know that this review is very short but there really isn't that much to say about it so I guess I'll conclude by saying I give the Vitamin Water Energy a 6.0 out of 10 because the taste was pretty good but the kick, well energy drink or not it was pretty poor.

REVIEW OF AMP RELAUNCH

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.
RATING: 8 OUT OF 10.

If you want to, you can think of this as sort of a a supercharged Mountain Dew Livewire. AMP Relaunch is my first review of the AMP line of products which included things like Traction, Elevate and Overdrive. So anyway the can says burst of orange citrus so I kind of new what to expect. Most would say it is just orange soda, but a closer examination shows that is a bit more than that. The orange is actually very light and you get this little citrus zing at the end. I kind of like the interplay between the orange and the zing. So it did go down easy and although it does slam the door a bit as it goes down, it is not bad. So as far as kick, well it was decent but not great actually. It contains 160 milligrams of caffeine but only 296 milligrams of taurine. To put that into perspective, the average 16 ounce energy drink contains 2000 milligrams of taurine. Now I will admit that my fingers are shaking a tiny bit but I am not sure that is from the caffeine. The Relaunch gets a hefty 8 out of 10 because it is my new best tasting energy drink.

REVIEW OF RED BULL

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 80 MILLIGRAMS PER 8.4 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 6 OUT OF 10.

So, I just could not wait any longer could I? Nope, I had to review Red Bull sometime or another and here is my review. Red Bull is the most popular energy drink on the market by far and is the one energy drink everyone knows about. Your parents might not know what NOS, Rockstar and Monster are, but they definitely know what Red Bull is. I don't normally talk about can design but I will point out that Red Bull is very mild and althought the blue and silver are nice it is still a bit boring. It is not edgy like Monster or AMP. Chances are that anyone reading this already knows what Red Bull tastes like, but for those of you who do not, well I will tell you. Red Bull has a nice apple flavor that is pretty tart. It is actually one of the most tart energy drinks I have reviewed. So anyway, I chugged the little 8.4 ounce bugger which has 80 milligrams of caffeine and......nothing. Red Bull does not do squat, at all. I was pretty tired after about 30-40 minutes of drinking it and I did not space it out;I chugged the thing and drank it as fast as I could. So sorry Red Bull but you have a terrible kick. So final judgement is a 6 out of 10 and that is pretty much all taste. I might have to review the 16 ounce size and review that but I will not because Red Bull is 8 ounces and everyone knows that, plus I am not going to waste my time drinking another one of these things you call "energy drinks".
