REVIEW OF BAWLS GUARANA CHERRY

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 100 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 6.8 OUT OF 10.

This is definitely one of the most anticipated reviews on my blog. After receiving this from Connor Ross from alittlebitofthisthatandthose.blogspot.com I will finally get to review Bawls Guarana. And not just any Bawls Guarana, I get to review the cherry flavored Bawls. I also received the Bawls Guarana EXXTRA from Connor so look for that review later down the road. I was very excited about reviewing this because I have heard from other top review sites that it is one of the best tasting mass-marketed energy drinks out there. And were they right? Well, It did taste pretty good but at the same time, it didn't really taste like anything. It was like club soda with sugar and a hint of cherry flavor. Yes it tastes good but I thought it would be more like a Cherry 7up or something like that. Another reason why I couldn't wait to review Bawls was because energy-drink-ratings.blogspot.com, one of the best review sites, gave this drink a 9 out of 10 for kick. Unfortunately that was not the case for me. I had a very minor kick which was accompanied with a hard crash. Now, this does shock me a bit because Bawls Guarana Cherry contains 100 milligrams of caffeine. But the caffeine comes from Guarana which is 2-3 times stronger than the caffeine you get from coffee or soda. So it's like having 200-300 milligrams of caffeine instead of just 100 milligrams of caffeine. And that is all Bawls Guarana has: Caffeine. There is no taurine, no ginseng, no gingko biloba, no yerba mate and no b vitamins. Well, I guess I should conclude by giving Bawls Guarana Cherry a 6.8 out of 10. It tasted good but had no kick.

REVIEW OF SEA20

CAFFEINE CONTENT: DOES NOT CONTAIN CAFFEINE.

RATING: 8.1 OUT OF 10.

Before I get started on my review of Sea20 I would like to point out that the name of the drink is pronounced sea-two-oh and not sea-twenty. With that being said let's begin my review. Sea20 is an all organic energy drink that does not contain any caffeine. It is sweetened with agave nectar and it is the best tasting energy drink I have had in quite awhile. It tasted a little bit like iced tea but the agave nectar is what made it. It was so sweet, light and refreshing. And as an added bonus it was non-carbonated so it was easy to chug. I mentioned before that Sea20 did not contain any caffeine but that is not the only thing it doesn't contain. It does not contain taurine, guarana, ginseng, gingko biloba or even yerba mate. What it does contain is 32 grams of carbohydrates, 32 grams of sugar, 126 milligrams of vitamin c and .72 milligrams of vitamin b6. Quite a sad blend if you ask me and they say it is powerful. Is that statement true? not exactly. The kick I got from it was decent but nothing I would call powerful. It lasted roughly 3 hours and there was no crash. To conclude, Sea20 tasted unbelievably incredible and the kick was not all bad. I will give this drink an 8.1 out of 10.

REVIEW OF PURE FUEL

CAFFEINE CONTENT: HIDDEN IN ENERGY BLEND.

RATING: 9 OUT OF 10!

It is a beautiful Saturday here in my hometown and what better way to enjoy a great Saturday than with an energy drink. That specific energy drink is Pure Fuel by Twinlab. Pure Fuel comes in a 12 ounce black and red can and has no carbohydrates, no fat, no sugar, and no calories. I thought it would taste bad because of the sucralose but I stand corrected. It tasted pretty darn good but I didn't know what it tasted like. I thought I tasted Diet lemon-lime soda but I also tasted a hint of cherry and orange. But like I said before, this is a drink worth trying. So, Pure Fuel gets its energy from a 365 milligram energy blend consisting of guarana seed extract, caffeine, tuarine, american ginseng root extract, eleutherococcus senticosus root extract, green tea leaf extract, and gingko biloba leaf extract. Unfortunately none of the amounts are given so I don't know how much caffeine it has. But based on the fact that it has a 365 milligram energy blend and caffeine is second in that blend it probably has around 60-80 milligrams of caffeine per 12 ounce can, maybe more. Whatever the caffeine amount is, this thing surely does a good job. I was pretty energized for 3 to 5 hours and it may have helped me beat my best split time on an ergometer. So, to rightfully conclude I am giving Pure Fuel a rating of 9 out of 10.

REVIEW OF NOS GRAPE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 357 MILLIGRAMS OF CAFFEINE PER 22 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 6.2 OUT OF 10

Yesterday I had a NOS Grape and never had time to review it so today I am ready for the review so let's get started. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the 16 ounce version so I just picked up the 22 ounce version and drank that instead. NOS Grape is supposed to tastes like, well, grape but that's not what it tasted like. I couldn't really pinpoint the taste but I got hints of grape along with a bit of a medicinal flavor. It also had a very strong smell to it as well. So, if you happen to be drinking a NOS Grape, feel free to chime in the comment section below and tell me what you think it tasted like. Anyway, NOS Grape gets its boost from 2,750 milligrams of taurine, 550 milligrams of l-carnitine, 357 milligrams of caffeine, 274 milligrams of inositol, and 136 milligrams of panax ginseng. Man, what a sick blend but its a shame it didn't give me any energy. That's right I said it. I felt hardly any kick from NOS which is really weird because this is the most caffeine I have had in an energy drink. Oh well, it happens. In conclusion, NOS had a pretty decent taste, a sick energy blend, but hardly any effect. Rating? 6.2 out of 10.

REVIEW OF AMP GREEN TEA

Courtesy of Amp Energy
CAFFEINE CONTENT: 156 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 9.3 OUT OF 10!

Well, Amp has recently come out with two new flavors: Amp Black Tea and Amp Green Tea. The one I will be reviewing today is Amp Green Tea. Every Amp Energy Drink contains a special ingredient that is unique to the rest of the line-up. Amp Green Tea's special ingredients are Beta-Alanine and Antioxidants. Ok so I cracked this bad boy open when I was on my way to the country club. I thought it tasted a little weird at first but then the taste grew on me and it started tasting really good. I tasted the original Amp flavor with subtle hits of delicious green tea. Very good, my whole family was impressed with it in fact. Ok, so I can't give you the amounts on all the energy ingredients because I threw away the can at the country club. That would also explain why the picture is not one I took myself. Anyhow, Amp Green Tea has green tea extract, tuarine, b vitamins, 156 milligrams of caffeine. The usual basically. So, as far as kick, Amp has never let me down and this on didn't fail. It was a hectic day and my cousins came over. I had plenty of energy to play basketball, play catch, run around, you name it. Amp Green Tea is most excellent and I can't wait to review Amp Black Tea. Rating? A hefty 9.3 out of 10.

REVIEW OF ARCHER FARMS TROPICAL

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 70 MILLIGRAMS PER 12 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7.6 OUT OF 10.

Archer Farms is Target's private label and from what I hear, they have an energy drink so I went to target and picked up a can for $1.79. The flavor I picked up was Tropical which is a mix of mango, peach, pineapple, and pear juices. To me, it tasted like carbonated pineapple juice with some hints of mango. Actually, I wasn't the biggest fan of Archer Farms Tropical but if you love pineapple juice, give this drink a try. I am not saying the drink tasted bad, I am simply saying that I have had energy drinks that taste better than this. So, per each 12 ounce can you get 70 milligrams of caffeine, 90 milligrams of panax ginseng root extract, and 10 milligrams of tuarine along with a healthy amount of vitamins. I really like how Archer Farms is taking a healthy approach to energy drinks. It even has 40 percent real fruit juices! But enough dilly dally onto the kick. Well, it perked up a little but nothing major. Then again, it only has 70 milligrams of caffeine which is the same of a Vault. However, Archer Farms is more of a health energy drink than a full out energy drink. And that is where Archer Farms shines the most: healthy. It gives you a lot of vitamins with none of those ridiculous amounts of vitamin b12 like some drinks have. Unfortunately, Archer Farms does have its weaknesses to go along with its strengths. And that's why it gets a 7.6 out of 10.

REVIEW OF CRAVE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER PACKET.

RATING: 9.4 OUT OF 10!!!

2 days ago, I received 2 packets of Crave Energy Mix from an independent representative for Vitamark. So, in order to consume Crave properly, you must mix the contents of the packet with a 16 oz bottle of water. I didn't have a 16 oz bottle of water, but I had a 16.9 ounce bottle instead, so I just took a sip and made it 16 ounces. I then proceeded to mix the entire contents of the packet. You need to let the mix dissolve for a few minutes otherwise you get these clumps at the bottom. When I first tasted Crave I got delicious, refreshing lime taste with an artificial sweetener taste as well. Quite good if you ask me. So what makes Crave tick? Well, per packet is has 1,000 milligrams of taurine, 240 milligrams of guarana, 160 milligrams of caffeine, 100 milligrams of kolanut extract, and 70 milligrams of inositol along with some vitamins as well. Man, I haven't had a rush from 160 milligrams of caffeine like this in a long time. The energy came in 5 minutes and it lasts for 4 to 5 hours and it is big. Overall, I give this drink a 9.4 out of 10. It had great taste and a phenomenal kick. This is definitely going on my Best Energy Drink List. If you wanna purchase some packets of Crave simply go to EnergyDrinkRevolution.info

REVIEW OF XS CITRUS BLAST.

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 83 MILLIGRAMS PER 8.4 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8.2 OUT OF 10

For my 65th review, I will be reviewing XS Citrus Blast. As of 2007, XS is the 2nd best selling energy drink quantity wise. They do not sell XS in single cans but you can get a 12 pack for $23.88 which comes out to about $1.99 a can. Anyway, according to the drinks website, Citrus Blast is a mixture of orange, lemon, and lime. I immediately thought that I was going to taste a flavor eerily similar to lemon-lime soda with just a hint of orange. As it turns out, I was right. It tastes like a lemon-lime soda with just a hint of orange. There is, however, a slight aftertaste caused by the artificial sweeteners in this drink but it's not bad at all. So, with XS Citrus Blast you get tons of B vitamins, some amino acids, and 83 milligrams of good ol' caffeine. The kick that XS delivers is comparable to that of a strong cup of coffee. I got a mid-level energy rush that lasted about 3 to 4 hours. Not bad for a drink that's only 8.4 ounces. And if you are wondering if XS is better than Red Bull, than wonder no more. XS is a ton better than Red Bull in taste and kick. So, to conclude I will give XS an 8.2 out of 10 for exceptional taste and a pretty good kick.

REVIEW OF XS ROOTBEER BLAST

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 83 MILLIGRAMS PER 8.4 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8.6 OUT OF 10!

Rootbeer Blast is the 5th flavor of XS that I have reviewed. As far as taste goes, this is exceptionally good. Obviously the flavor is self explanatory: it tastes like Rootbeer but with a tiny bit of aspartame flavor because all the XS Energy Drinks have no sugar and only a few carbs. Anyway, XS Rootbeer Blast also packs quite a nice little wallop to go with the sensational taste. With this little 8.4 ounce can you get 83 milligrams of caffeine as well as a crap load of B vitamins including 4,900% Daily Value of B12. Sweet! I would probably compare the kick to a cup of coffee and the large amounts of B vitamins make it last about 3 hours. So, with XS Rootbeer Blast, you can have the best of both worlds: kick and taste. To rightfully conclude I am giving XS Rootbeer Blast an 8.6 out of 10 because the kick was good but not great but I still thoroughly enjoyed having this drink. I may even get a 12 pack of these babies. Hopefully I can get a discounted price otherwise I have to pay $23.88 for it which is $1.99 a can. As for you, the reader, what are you waiting for? Go and order a 12 pack today!

REVIEW OF 24:7

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7.9 OUT OF 10.

While I was surfing the Internet I noticed an energy drink called 24:7 and I wondered where I could find it. As it turns out, this drink is sold exclusively at Walgreens and you can get for around 2 dollars. 24:7 has the most basic can I have ever seen. The only things that are on the can are the name, the nutrition facts, and the ingredients. I cracked open the green and black can and got a whiff of Red Bull. Yep, it's a Red Bull clone but it also has somewhat of a sweet tart type flavor. Not a very unique drink but nonetheless it did taste pretty good. So, the energy ingredients include 160 milligrams of caffeine, 2,000 milligrams of taurine, glucoronolactone, and vitamin b3. The drink does not list the amount of taurine on the can but since it is a generic brand I would guess that it would have around 2,000 milligrams. The caffeine content is also not listed on the can but energyfiend.com says it has 160 milligrams of it. Anyway, 24:7 takes a long time to kick it, but when it does, it ain't bad, it's actually pretty good. So, I had a pleasant experience with 24:7 and I expect to review more flavors in the future so stay tuned. Rating? 7.9 out of 10 because I could live without the Red Bull and sweet tart flavor.

REVIEW OF AMP TRACTION

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8.3 OUT OF 10.

While I was at the local Meijer, I couldn't resist picking out an energy drink for me to try. The energy drink that I tried is called AMP Traction. AMP Traction is basically the grape flavored AMP and my friend once described the taste as if someone took a grape slushy and melted it into a liquid and then dumped a pound of sugar on it. I would have to disagree with my friend because I thought it tasted like grape soda but a little bit more sweet and it gives you a cotton mouth. Pretty good if you ask me, and so far, AMP has produced the best tasting energy drinks in my opinion. So, what makes AMP Traction tick? Well, it's got 3.4 milligrams of riboflavin, 40 milligrams of niacin, 20 milligrams of pantothenic acid, 40 milligrams of phosphorous, 140 milligrams of sodium, 296 milligrams of taurine, 292 milligrams of maltodextrin, 248 milligrams of guarana seed extract, 160 milligrams of caffeine, 144 milligrams of d-ribose, and finally 34 milligrams of panax ginseng extract. That is a total of 11 energy enhancing ingredients all tying in to make a nice eye-opener. This drink doesn't make you hyper but it wakes you up a lot and it keeps it energy level up for a while. I'm not sure if I will get any sleep tonight. Oh well, AMP Traction gets an 8.3 out of 10.

REVIEW OF JITTERBEANS

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 600 MILLIGRAMS PER 1.40 OUNCE BOX.

RATING: 8.6 OUT OF 10.

What a name, huh? Jitterbeans are the same thing as Crackheads 2 except with a different name. Since Jitterbeans contain 600 milligrams of caffeine per box I couldn't the whole box at once so I settled for 350 milligrams of caffeine or about 14 beans. I noticed that the beans were bigger than the original Crackheads but they still had the same chocolate coating, just thicker. So, Jitterbeans taste just like regular Crackheads only a bit more chocolaty and sweet. You can hardly taste the bitterness from the coffee bean and the thicker chocolate coating is what makes it taste so good. Ok, so Jitterbeans have 600 milligrams of caffeine per box which is the most caffeine ever produced in a product. As a matter of fact, the only drink that comes close is Wired X505 with 505 milligrams of caffeine, 95 less than Jitterbeans. However, I only had 350 milligrams of caffeine worth of Jitterbeans and just like the normal Crackheads, I couldn't resist eating them in the morning. So, 350 milligrams of caffeine is a lot and it certainly did its job. It didn't make me hyper but it kept me awake and I wasn't drowsy at all like I usually am in the morning. So, all things considered, I give Jitterbeans an 8.6 out of 10. They taste great and they are loaded to the max with caffeine but the energy level isn't amazing. But it is pretty good.

REVIEW OF CRACKHEADS

Courtesy of Crackheads
CAFFEINE CONTENT: 200 MILLIGRAMS PER 1.40 OUNCE BOX.

RATING: 8 OUT OF 10.

What's better, chocolate, or coffee? You can have both with Crackheads. Crackheads are basically chocolate covered coffee beans and they taste really good. You can definitely taste the rich coffee flavor and I could taste the difference between the white and milk chocolate. As a matter of fact, I took one Crackhead and sucked off all the chocolate and took it out of my mouth. Sure enough, it's a coffee bean and I had no idea you could eat these and they taste really good. Anyway, Crackheads have 200 milligrams of caffeine per 1.40 ounce box which is a lot of caffeine for a candy. So, did Crackheads wake me up a ton? No. But not to worry, because I had these in the morning and almost nothing gets me hyper in the morning. So, when I review Jitterbeans which are super caffeinated Crackheads, I will wait until the afternoon to try them. So, if you are reading this review, I suggest you forget about what I say about the energy level and go try some yourself. But, they sure do taste good. Ok, to conclude, I am giving Crackheads a break because nothing gets me hyper in the morning and they deserve some credit for making a candy with 200 milligrams of caffeine. Rating? 8 out of 10. They taste so freaking good!

REVIEW OF FOOSH

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 100 MILLIGRAMS OF CAFFEINE PER MINT.

RATING: 9 OUT OF 10.

Today, I got a free sample (73 mints) of Foosh Energy Mints and here I am now to review them, so let's get started. Foosh Energy Mints are about the size of my thumbnail and are pretty thick for a mint. As far as taste goes, this tastes just like any other mint except it's not as strong. It actually can be almost flavorless at times but that doesn't bother me at all. Each and every Foosh Energy Mint contains 100 milligrams of caffeine. No that's not a typo, there is 100 milligrams of caffeine in one mint! In fact, Foosh Energy Mints are the most caffeinated mints ever made and no other caffeinated mint even comes close. And to add to the energy, they've got taurine, ginseng, and B vitamins to go along with the 100 milligrams of caffeine. Ok, so I figured the best time to take a mint with that much caffeine would be before a good workout. And boy, what a workout it was....for me. I ran 2 miles and then immediately did some weights and finished strong. Not to mention I wasn't really tired until about 1.5 miles into the run. After my workout, I sat with my parents and eventually, my dad wanted to workout so I ended up doing another mile on the treadmill. I did the mile in 8 minutes and 32 seconds which is a record for me but I wasn't done yet. To finally end, I did a mile on a bike machine in just 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Ok, so far in this review there has been more talk about my workout than the actual product I am reviewing so I will sum up the review in a few words. Foosh Energy Mints get a 9 out of 10 because of there high caffeine content and helping me a lot with my workout. Congratulations Vroom Foods!

REVIEW OF NERD

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 120 MILLIGRAMS PER 12 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8.2 OUT OF 10.

Yesterday, I got two four packs of Nerd Energy Drink shipped to me for free and today is the day I get to review them, so let's get started. Well, the taste of Nerd is somewhat hard to describe but I managed to put my finger on it. It is basically Mountain Dew meets green apple meets orange. So, it's pretty much a mix of orange, green apple, and Mountain Dew. And, it is lightly carbonated so when you chug it, your eyes water but it does not burn your throat. There is 10 energy and focus ingredients in nerd, and yes I will list them all: taurine, caffeine, glucuronolactone, guarana, inositol, L-carnitine, ginseng, vinpocetine, huperzine A, DMAE, and chinese gingko biloba. Quite a list if you ask me, and Nerd certainty gave me as much energy as I would expect from a 12 ounce beverage with 120 milligrams of caffeine. I would describe the kick to be good, but nothing over the top by any means. So, to conclude, Nerd tastes darn good, has some cool energy and focus ingredients and it has a good kick. Rating? 8.2 out of 10

REVIEW OF MONSTER MIXXD

Courtesy of Monster Energy
CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8 OUT OF 10.

While I was up north I happened to consume a Monster Mixxd and never got a chance to review it, so two days after consuming I am here to give my thought on Monster Mixxd. Judging by the ingredients, Monster Mixxd is supposed to taste like a mix between apple juice and grape juice. As it turns out, I was right, it did taste a lot like a mix between apple juice and grape juice. It was lightly carbonated so it was not to difficult to chug. So, what's in this Monster Mixxd? Well, you've basically got taurine, ginseng, guarana, caffeine, and some stuff I can't pronounce and don't feel like typing right now. Anyway, the kick I got from this was pretty good. This is probably the best Monster yet. And, I took it before I went Kayaking, so it that was a good way to test its kick. So, to conclude, I am giving Monster Mixxd a well-deserved 8 out of 10.

REVIEW OF GURU LITE

Courtesy of Guru Energy

CAFFEINE CONTENT: ABOUT 140 MILLIGRAMS PER 12 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10.

For my next review, I will be reviewing Guru Lite. Guru Lite is pretty much the same thing as regular Guru except is has only 10 calories per 8 ounce serving. It uses no artificial sweetener because it gets it's sweetness from a mere 2 grams of sugar per 8 ounce serving. I would have to say that Guru Lite was one of the best low calorie energy drinks I have ever tasted. Yes, it did taste a little artificial, but that didn't matter because it was quite refreshing. Guru Lite contains things like Gingko Biloba, Enchinacea, Stevia, Gaurana, and Ginseng as well as approximately 140 milligrams of caffeine per 12 ounce can. Not a bad amount of caffeine and it certainly perked me up a little but not enough to really get my motor running. Maybe if they made a high caffeine version with 50% more caffeine it would give me a big boost. But if you hate the sugary syrup that is an energy drink than I recommend you give Guru Lite a try. Rating? 7.5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF HYDRIVE LEMON LIME

Courtesy of Hydrive Energy
CAFFEINE CONTENT: 145 MILLIGRAMS PER 15.5 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 8 OUT OF 10.

This is the last flavor of the Hydrive Energy Drink. The flavor is supposed to be lemon lime and they did not lie. It tasted like lemon lime Gatorade only 10 times better and a lot less sour. I chugged it in a matter of minutes and it was so refreshing on a hot day. Definitely, one of the best things I have tasted, but what's in this Hydrive Lemon Lime? Well, each 15.5 ounce bottle of Hydrive Lemon Lime contains 145 milligrams of caffeine, 50 milligrams of taurine, 25 milligrams of L carnitine, 25 milligrams of L arginine, 2 milligrams of magnesium and 2 milligrams of chloride as well as 300% daily value of B vitamins. All these energy ingredients and awesome taste combined to make the best Hydrive yet. Because I drank it so fast, it got in my system faster and hit me harder. Still, it is not amazing but it is pretty good, and very tasty. So, to conclude, Hydrive Lemon Lime is an incredibly tasty and refreshing beverage with a nice kick. Rating, 8 out of 10.

REVIEW OF GURU

CAFFEINE CONTENT: ABOUT 140 MILLIGRAMS PER 12 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10.

For my 54th review I will be reviewing Guru 100% Natural Energy Drink. Guru Energy Drink is one of only two Guru Energy Drink flavors that contains carbonation. According to the drinks website, Guru has a unique taste unlike any other energy drink out there. They are certainly correct as I got an incredibly unique citrus cherry flavor with a hint of lemon. This was truly one of the most unique tasting energy drinks I ever had. And, it took me about the entire 12 ounce can before I realized what it tasted like. Guru Energy Drink has approximately 140 milligrams of caffeine in a 12 ounce can as well as Guarana, Ginseng, Gingko Biloba, and even Enchinacea. All these energy enhancing ingredient tied to make a drink that's still better than Red Bull, but still not enough to really make me impressed. So, to sum up this ridiculously short review, I give Guru Energy Drink a 7.5 out of 10. Sorry the photo is small, it was the only one I could use without people getting mad at me for stealing there pictures.

REVIEW OF GURU LEMON HONEY ICE TEA.

CAFFEINE CONTENT: ABOUT 140 MILLIGRAMS PER 12 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8 OUT OF 10.

There are many names for this drink. You could name it Guru Ice Tea, Guru Ice Green Tea, Guru Ice Tea Green Tea Honey Lemon, or even Guru Green Tea with Honey and Lemon. I chose to name it Guru Lemon Honey Ice Tea. Before taking my first few sips, I gave it a good shake and popped open the 12 ounce can. My nostrils were greeted with a pleasant green tea smell with hints of honey. I took a sip and got a nicely sweetened green tea flavor with hints of honey just like my nose suggested. While I was waiting a moment for any aftertaste I notice a little bit of bitterness creeping in but that's about all it did was creep. Thankfully there never was a bitter aftertaste so I presumed to chug away it's non-carbonated goodness. Each 12 ounce can of Guru Lemon Honey Ice Tea contains about 140 milligrams of caffeine along with gaurana, ginseng, enchinacea, and gingko biloba. As far as the kick goes, Guru still manages to smoke Red Bull. I got an ample kick that lasted a couple hours. Not bad, but nothing to brag about. Still it was quite refreshing which bumps up the rating from a 7.5 to an 8 out of 10.

REVIEW OF HYPE ENLITE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 80 MILLIGRAMS PER 8.4 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10.

Well what do you know, we have another Red Bull clone in our society. I know that all you other reviewers out there think that I have gone completely insane thinking that Hype is a Red Bull clone but just hear me out, you'll get what I'm saying. Apparently, Hype is one of the best tasting energy drink companies out there. In my opinion, Hype Enlite, which is the diet version of Hype, tastes just like sugar free Red Bull. I am sorry but to me it does taste like sugar free Red Bull. So, looks like we have another clone on our hands but what's in this stuff? Well, apart from 80 milligrams of caffeine, you also get 1,000 milligrams of taurine, and 25 grams of glucide which is something I have never heard of before. As for the kick, well Hype Enlite does beat Red Bull Sugar Free. I got an ample kick that lasted about 1.5 to 2 hours. Overall, this is a pretty good drink no matter what drink it tries to copy. Rating? 7.5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF GURU JUICY SUPERFRUIT

CAFFEINE CONTENT: ABOUT 140 MILLIGRAMS PER 12 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8 OUT OF 10.

Today I will review Guru Juicy Superfruit. Guru Juicy Superfruit is quite a neat beverage as it is 100% natural and organic and it says some cool juice concentrates like white grape, cane juice, and pomegranate. It actually took me about half the can before I finally discovered what I was tasting. To me, Guru Juicy Superfruit tasted like cranberry juice mixed with a little grape juice. Not bad, considering I am not the biggest fan of cranberry juice. And the best part is that it's non-carbonated so you can chug it so easily. Anyway Guru has some key energy ingredients such as approximately 140 milligrams of naturally occurring caffeine as well as gaurana, panax ginseng, gingko biloba, and echinacea. Unfortunately, Guru Energy doesn't say how much of each energy ingredient there is. If you wanna compare Red Bull to Guru, then Guru beats in hands-down. It has about 11.66 milligrams of caffeine per ounce, where as Red Bull only has 10 milligrams. Ok, so it's only a 1.66 milligram difference but it still kicks Red Bull's butt. The 140 milligrams of caffeine certainly woke me up, and lasted for about a couple hours. Not the biggest rush I have had, but then again 140 milligrams of caffeine isn't really something to brag about. Guru Juicy Superfruit gets a hefty 8 out of 10 for tasting good and being better than Red Bull.

REVIEW OF WIRED X344-50th REVIEW

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 344 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 10 OUT OF 10.

This is a very special review for two reasons. The first reason is that this is my 50th review and there is plenty more on the way so stay tuned. The second reason is that I am reviewing the 2nd most powerful 16 ounce energy drink ever produced: Wired X 344. Wired X 344 has over twice the caffeine of Monster and Rockstar and over 3 times the caffeine of regular Wired. So, before I took a few sips, I took a good whiff and noticed a Red Bull scent with a hint of Mountain Dew, and even citrus. As it turns out, my nose was right, it tasted like Red Bull with a little citrus and a bit more sour. Actually, this drink tasted pretty good but some of you might not like it. So, it tasted pretty good but what the heck is in this beast of a drink? Well, besides the ridiculous 344 milligrams of caffeine in there, it also has 250 milligrams of gaurana seed extract, 3,000 milligrams of taurine, 100 milligrams of inositol, 60 milligrams of white tea extract, 500% of vitamin b12, 200% of vitamin b6, 160% of vitamin b3, and 100% of vitamin b5. Quite a sick blend if you ask me. Anyway onto the best part of this review: The kick! After about 15 to 2o minutes after consuming the entire can I did feel wired. You definitely get caffeine jitters from this beast as well. The energy level was pretty dang huge and I was pretty freaking hyper for about 5.5 hours. This is a great drink by all means. It tasted good, it has a sweet blend and with 344 milligrams of caffeine in your system, there is no way you are not going to be wired! So, all things considered, I just have to give this drink an 10! It's just so beastly!

REVIEW OF GURU FULL ON LEMONADE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: ABOUT 140 MILLIGRAMS PER 12 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 8.5 OUT OF 10

I just love the name of this drink. Why? Well, in case you didn't know my nickname is Caffeine Guru and recently, when talking to energy drink companies, I sometimes call myself Mr. Guru. Anyway the flavor I had was Full On Lemonade and it sure did taste like lemonade. It was non-carbonated so it was super easy to chug the whole 12 ounces. This is one of the best tasting energy drinks I have ever had. Well, what exactly is in Guru Full On Lemonade? Well, apart from about 140 milligrams of caffeine you get from guarana, there is a 1,285 milligram energy blend consisting of guarana seed extract, panax ginseng root extract, echinacea flower extract, and gingko biloba leaf extract. So, not a bad blend, but I have seen better. And as far as the kick goes, well you can kiss Red Bull goodbye! This thing is awesome! It is not a super energy supplement, it just gets me up and running, just like they say it will. And it is non-carbonated and tastes great which are my two favorite things about Guru Full On Lemonade. Unfortunately my rating system only allows me to give superb ratings on the drinks that got me super energized, or the ones that tasted really good and have a good blend. So, all things considered, Guru Full On Lemonade gets a stellar 8.5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF HYDRIVE KIWI STRAWBERRY

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 145 MILLIGRAMS PER 15.5 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 8 OUT OF 10.

I figured it would be best to try the Hydrive Alertness Formula because I was in need of a good pick me up. I didn't exactly find out what Hydrive Kiwi Strawberry tastes like, so I will just say it just tastes like what it says: Kiwi Strawberry. So, what makes Hydrive A tick? Well, it's got 145 milligrams of caffeine, 50 milligrams of taurine, 25 milligrams of L-carnitine, 25 milligrams of L-arginine, 5 milligrams of panax ginseng, and 5 milligrams of guarana as well as some B vitamins. Overall, a decent blend and it did give me an ample boost. This is the best Hydrive formula yet. It has great taste and the kick is pretty good. It actually helped me when I was playing Wii Sports. I absolutely creamed the computer 17 to 0 while playing Baseball. Hydrive A Kiwi Strawberry gets an 8 out of 10.

REVIEW OF STEAZ BERRY

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 80 MILLIGRAMS PER 12 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10

So this is my review of Steaz Organic Fuel. Steaz is the first energy drink to use fair trade certified ingredients. The flavor I had was berry which tastes sort of like a lightly carbonated ice tea with a hint of berry and a red bull type of flavor. Not bad at all, and I slammed the thing quickly because of its light carbonation. Well, apart from the 80 milligrams of caffeine that comes from gaurana, Steaz also has green tea, and yerba mate. Unfortunately for me, I do not know the exact amounts. Steaz certainly did its job by waking me up on a sleepy morning and it was very, very refreshing. Like I said before, it only has 80 milligrams of caffeine per 12 ounce can which is only 6.7 milligrams per ounce. If Red Bull had that much caffeine per ounce, it would have only 56 milligrams of caffeine. However, the caffeine in Steaz comes from green tea and gaurana which is 2 to 3 times stronger than the caffeine you get from drinking coffee. So, all things considered, Steaz is a good pick me up and it is quite refreshing. 7.5 out of 10

REVIEW OF HYDRIVE CITRUS BURST

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 145 MILLIGRAMS PER 15.5 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 7 OUT OF 10.

This is my 3rd review of Hydrive and I have to say the first two did fairly well. Judging by the color of liquid inside, and by the fact that the flavor is supposed to be citrus burst, tells me that is is probably orange flavored. As it turns out, I was right, it is an artificial orange flavor, but its nothing like orange juice. So, all things considered, it did taste pretty good, but what's in Hydrive Citrus Burst? Well, for each 15.5 ounce bottle you get 100% of Vitamin D, B3, B5, B6, B9, and B12 along with 145 milligrams of caffeine, 50 milligrams of taurine, 25 milligrams of L-carnitine, and 25 milligrams of L-arginine. So, it has a 245 milligram energy blend which is not that good at all. As far as kick goes, Hydrive still has quite a ways to go. I got a very mild kick from drinking Hydrive Citrus Burst. I still think they should make a Hydirve Xtreme and make it with 50% more of every energy ingredient they have. So, it would have 218 milligrams of caffeine, and 75 milligrams of taurine along with 50% more of L-carnitine and L-arginine. The problem with all the Hydrive drinks is the energy blend. Most energy drinks have around a 2,500 to 3,000 milligram energy blend. The Hydrive with the highest energy blend has only a 265 milligram energy blend. Hydrive needs to step up there game, but it sure does taste good which is why it gets a 7 out of 10.

REVIEW OF 5 HOUR ENERGY BERRY

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 200 MILLIGRAMS PER 2 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 9.7 OUT OF 10!!!

So, after waiting only a couple days for my free 12 pack of 5 Hour Energy, I will finally be able to review the world's most popular energy shot. Ok, so I poured the little 2 ounce shot into a glass and what came out looked somewhat like water with a pink hue. I proceeded to slam the 2 ounces and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It tasted like berry flavored cough syrup, only less thick and without that horrible aftertaste. As a matter of fact, after I slammed the 2 ounces, I went to the sink to wash out my mouth, but I realized that there was no aftertastes so I didn't need to. So, before I get to the kick, what exactly is in this 5 Hour Energy. Well, it has 2,000% of Vitamin B6, 8,333% of Vitamin B12 and a 1,870 milligram energy blend consisting of Tuarine, Glucuronolactone, Malic Acid, N-Acetyl, L-Tyrosine, L-Phenylalanine, Caffeine, and Citicoline. Quite an extensive list if you ask me. The caffeine content is 200 milligrams. Finally, we can go onto the kick. I slammed 5 Hour Energy before a workout and this stuff is where its at! I wasn't that tired after my workout and I was energized for 5 hours, maybe more! There claim of 5 hours of energy is definitely true. I have had a total of 4 energy shots and I have to say this is the best one, by a long shot. I didn't feel jittery and thankfully I didn't get a Niacin Flush, which is what some people get from drinking 5 Hour Energy. If this was an energy drink, I would give it a 9. but since its an energy shot, and its not supposed to taste good, I give it a 9.7. Oh yes, which means the extra strength version might go up to 10! This was a very long review but 5 Hour Energy receives a well deserved 9.7.

REVIEW OF VERVE

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 80 MILLIGRAMS PER 8.3 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 7 OUT OF 10.

Verve Energy Drink is made a a company called Vemma and it is supposed to be one of the most healthiest energy drinks on the market. Verve has 80 milligrams of caffeine that comes from gaurana so it is 2-3 times more powerful than the caffeine you get from coffee. As far as taste goes, you might want to try some Verve yourself. I couldn't compare Verve to any fruit, energy drink, or anything else for that matter. Verve is in a class by itself when it comes to taste. Even though I don't exactly know what Verve tastes like, I will tell you that I enjoyed the taste. So, there are so many things in Verve that I could write an entire novel just by listing what is in this. However, I will tell you some of the key ingredients in Verve. Some of the key energy ingredients include 1,000 milligrams of taurine, 200 milligrams of gaurana, 80 milligrams of caffeine that is derived from that 200 milligrams of gaurana, and a butt-load of vitamins and minerals. So, did Verve provide me with a kick to get me going? Well, not really. Verve has a very mild kick that didn't motivate me to do a whole lot. When I drink an energy drink, I expect to be pumped up and ready to take on anything. Verve fails to do that which is unfortunate because I had high hopes for Verve. Oh well, better luck next time. Verve gets a 7 out of 10 because the taste is unique.

REVIEW OF BRAIN TONIQ

CAFFEINE CONTENT: NO CAFFEINE.

RATING: 8.7 OUT OF 10.

This is another one of those functional beverages that compete with Jones GABA. Brain Toniq is supposed to be a think drink and it has some crazy, yet cool ingredients. It has no caffeine and the only "energy" ingredients are 20 grams of carbohydrates and 20 grams of sugar. Anyway, Brain Toniq tastes somewhat like a lightly carbonated sweetened ice tea. This actually tastes really good and I wish it wasn't only 8.4 ounces. This is definitely one of the best functional drinks I have tasted. So, like I said before, there are some crazy ingredients in here that I really don't feel like typing. As far as the functionality goes, I did find that my brain was much more clear. It was like little workers entered my brain and power washed every random thought in sight. This is really a well-developed and fantastic functional beverage. If you want a drink that is healthy, gives you brain clarity, and tastes great? Go get some Brain Toniq and fuel your brain today. Brain Toniq gets a 8.7 out of 10.

REVIEW OF STEAZ ENERGY SHOT

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 150 MILLIGRAMS PER 2.5 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 7 OUT OF 10.

Well, my my 42nd review I thought it would be good to try Steaz Energy Shots. Steaz is 100% organic and they have just recently came out with an energy shot. Based on the color of the liquid and the fact that it says green tea, I was expecting a concentrated tea flavor. That is exactly what I got and you have got to slam this drink. It is certainly not the greatest thing I have tasted, but then again it's an energy shot so I wouldn't expect it to. What exactly is in Steaz energy shot? Well besides having 150 milligrams of natural caffeine, you also have 1,250% of Vitamin c, 2,000% of Vitamin b6, 100% of folic acid, 8,333% of Vitamin B12, and a 1,600 milligram blend of organic green tea, acai, yerba mate, and guarana. So, I was expecting a great kick and is that what I got? Well, sort of. The kick was a nice pick me up but it really didn't motivate me to do anything. All it did was wake me up. Man I am so ready for my 50th review on this blog. I haven't told you this before, but for my 50th review, I will be reviewing Wired X-344. Wired X-344 is the second most powerful 16 ounce energy drink ever made. But we are not here to talk about Wired X-344, are we? No, we are here to talk about Steaz Energy Shot and I am here to give it a 7 out of 10. The good thing is that Steaz Energy Shot doesn't market themselves as an extreme energy shot. This is more of a shot to get you focused and ready for whatever. However, it still gets a 7 out of 10 because of the bad taste.

REVIEW OF HYDRIVE TRIPLE BERRY

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 145 MILLIGRAMS PER 15.5 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 7.5 OUT OF 10.

This is my review of Hydrive Triple Berry. Like I said in my first review of Hydrive, I got free samples of these as well as the energy chews. Hydrive is a fairly healthy drink as it has only 6 grams of sugar and 30 calories per bottle. The triple berry flavor also boasts antioxidants such as apple polyphenols. So, like I said before, the flavor was triple berry and that is exactly what it tasted like. I detected a cherry base with some cranberry in there as well. Pretty good if you ask me, and it was pretty light and very refreshing. So, we have established that Hydrive Triple Berry tasted pretty good and was very refreshing but who is the kick? Well, besides the normal 254 milligram energy blend that all the Hydrives have, This also has vitamin E, polyphenols, ginkgo biloba, acai, zinc, and selenium. Overall I got a mild kick that lasted about 3 to 5 hours. Not bad, but not that good if you ask me. This drink has 145 milligrams of caffeine and the energy blend is too small to get me going really well. I suggest the make a Hydrive Extreme or something like that and make it with 50% more caffeine so that it would have 218 milligrams of caffeine. Or make a 24 ounce bottle and call it Hydrive Super Max and make it with over 350 milligrams of caffeine. Hydrive is a good hydrator, and it sure tastes great but as far as energy goes, they aren't quite there yet. Hydrive Triple Berry receives a 7.5 out of 10.

REVIEW OF HYDRIVE BLUE RASPBERRY

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 145 MILLIGRAMS PER 15.5 OUNCE BOTTLE.

RATING: 7 OUT OF 10.

Well, here it is folks: my 40th review! I got free samples of Hydrive Energy and today I will be reviewing the Blue Raspberry flavor. All of the Hydrive Energy Drinks have different formulas that do different things. There is the strength, vitamin, electrolyte, antioxidant, and alertness formula. Today I will be reviewing the strength formula. As far as taste goes, I was expecting a light fruity flavor similar to a propel but less water tasting. I sort of got that and it was pretty light. This would be great before a bike ride or a long run. It is non carbonated and you can easily chug it. If you hate the sticky, syrupy, gummyness you get from energy drinks, then Hydrive is the drink for you. Like I said before, this is the strength formula, but what exactly is in it? Well, you get 145 milligrams of caffeine, 50 milligrams of taurine, 25 milligrams of L carnitine, 25 milligrams of L arginine, 5 milligrams of L leucine, 5 milligrams of D ribose, 5 milligrams of Maca Root Extract, and 5 milligrams of Gingko Biloba. Overall this drink has a 265 milligram energy blend which is substantially less than the average energy drink which can very anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 milligrams. Because of this, I had low expectations for Hydrive. I drank this fairly quick and I got a nice boost that lasted about an hour. After the hour was up, the energy level was very mild. If I had to rate the energy level itself, I would give it a 5 or 6. Overall the energy level is better than a Red Bull (Then again water gives you a bigger boost then Red Bull) and it lasts about 2 hours. It also has a great taste and I like that you can chug it. I will give this drink a 7 out of 10.

REVIEW OF HYDRIVE ENERGY CHEWS ORANGE BLAST

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER PACK.

RATING: 8 OUT OF 10!

Today, I received free samples of an energy drink called Hydrive. They have 5 flavors, maybe 6, and they have these little energy chews which is what I am reviewing today. Hydrive energy chews come in a cool little package and there are 4 to a pack. Each chew contains 40 milligrams of caffeine and 66 milligrams of taurine along with a gigantic plethora of vitamins. I saw a commercial for this once on the Hydrive website and it showed a women running and carrying a pack of those energy chews. Like all commercials, she had no problem getting that bag open so she could pop one of her chews in. To my amazement, the same thing happened to me. I hesitated for a moment and then proceed to rip the bag open. I was expected to be greeted with an impossible-to-open super glued bag, but instead the thing ripped open quite easily. At last. we come to the taste, and what a strong taste it is. I got a super orange flavor that was so strong. The first two were ok, but the second two were just weird and too strong. I also consumed them the wrong way. You are supposed to immediately take two and then take the third and hour later and the fourth one an hour after that. That is one strange way to consume something, because I took it all at once. The energy level came fast and hard and lasted about 30 minutes to an hour. And for the next 4-6 hours I had a moderate boost of energy. It was what I expected from something with 160 milligrams of caffeine and 264 milligrams of taurine. It is not bad, it's actually pretty good. But certaintly not the greatest. All in all, I will give it a solid 8. Nice job Hydrive!

REVIEW OF RIP IT CITRUS X

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 200 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN

RATING: 7.8 OUT OF 10.

This is my 3rd review of Rip It and the first two did pretty well. All of the Rip It beverages sell for just $1.09 so that is 50% less than the average energy drink price. On the front of the yellow 16 ounce can, it states that the flavor is supposed to be Citrus. I was expecting something like Vault, Mountain Dew, or even Full Throttle. Instead I got a mix between carbonated Sunny Delight and orange soda. Not exactly what I had in mind but nevertheless it tasted really good. I think it is better than AMP Relaunch by a little bit, but not by much. Rip It has a good load of B Vitamins as well as a 2,420 milligram energy blend consisting of 2,000 milligrams of taurine, 200 milligrams of caffeine, 200 milligrams of inositol, and 20 milligrams of gaurana seed extract. Not too bad but it could use some L carnitine and some ginseng. The kick I got was not what I expected from a drink with 200 milligrams of caffeine. It is a bit of an endurance increase but other than that it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. The energy level was a moderate boost that lasted approximately 3 hours, maybe more. And, you get a pretty good crash from 66 grams of sugar. So, Rip It Citrus X gave me a decent kick and tasted fabulous. It gets a 7.8 out of 10. The kick was not bad, but not that good.

REVIEW OF AMP LIGHTNING

CAFFEINE CONTENT: 160 MILLIGRAMS PER 16 OUNCE CAN.

RATING: 9 OUT OF 10!

This is the 5th flavor of AMP that I have tried and I have to say they all tasted pretty good. AMP Lightning is 1 of 3 new flavors from AMP Energy. The other two are AMP Rebuild and AMP Defend which feature AMP Energy mixed with black or green tea. If you look on the front of the bright yellow can, you will notice it states that the flavor is lemonade. AMP certainly didn't lie as I got a nice, lightly carbonated, refreshing artificial lemonade flavor. This was actually quite good and it had no sour or bitterness and the lemonade flavor wasn't too strong. Well, AMP Lightning has a nice little plethora of energy ingredients like 296 milligrams of taurine, 200 milligrams of L-carnitine, 160 milligrams of caffeine, 248 milligrams of gaurana seed extract, and 34 milligrams of panax ginseng extract. Not a bad blend but certainly better than the original AMP. No B vitamins to share with this one, unfortunately. So, for 160 milligrams of caffeine the kick was pretty good. It lasted around 4 to 5 hours and I had plenty of energy to go and have a couple Cokes. The energy level itself in somewhat medium. You are not going to be running marathons and lifting 500 pound weights by drinking AMP Lightning. Nonetheless, it still gets a 9. *The photograph above was taken by a reviewer for the Canned Reviews blog. I take absolutely no credit for it whatsoever.
